TOP 5 HIKING ITINERARIES IN VAL DI SOLE

Your breathing intensifies, lungs fill with clean air, greenery that sometimes opens way to rock formations, transforming a mountain into a glacier: this is the Val di Sole. And walking through the valley or up to the highest peaks here is like reaching paradise!

The mountain groups of Ortles Cevedale, Adamello Presanella, and the Brenta Dolomites – declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2009 – embrace and silhouette the entire valley with their unmistakable majesty.

Summer is definitely the best time to venture up to high altitudes and breath in fresh mountain air, without the snow that abounds in winter. Of course, winter is still also nothing short of a fairytale, with its copious snowfalls that whiten the landscape, creating a postcard-like scene. But, for hiking, spring and summer are the ideal seasons, where you’ll be enchanted with each step you take, immersed in an awakened nature.

Want five ideas for an active nature-filled vacation (link booking) that will regenerate your body and soul? Well then, Let’s get going!

The trail around Pian Palù lake will take you along a path lined with 16th century larches, under Malga Paludèi, and to  various charcoal pits among the Paludèi and Giumella malgas. The lake is part of the Stelvio National Park and is quite a little gem to photograph. You can even stop and have lunch at the lodge and then keep on hiking along the other side of the lake.

# Rifugio Vioz “Mantova”. At the foot of Mount Vioz, at more than 3,500 meters, this lodge is located at the highest point of the Trentino territory and all the Eastern Alps. This  breathtaking panorama – that extends to the Lombard and South Tyrolean Alps – is a wonderful end to this hike. The climb is challenging, and the trail is suitable only for experienced hikers.

#Val Saent. A wonderful excursion among imposing waterfalls and high alpine glaciers up to the Dorigoni lodge. The Val Saènt is one of the greenest and most unspoiled spots in the Stelvio National Park.

#Lake Covel. Near the Val di Pejo, this is another easy itinerary for families with children. Just 4.1 km along which you’ll be able to admire the small mirror of fresh water surrounded by pastures and a small, ten-meter-high waterfall. A natural painting!

|#Cascate del Saent. One of the most beautiful and easy to reach waterfalls in Trentino, in the Val di Rabbi, on the side of the Val di Sole. The trail begins from the Malga Stablasolo: after a 45-minute walk, you’ll reach the impetuous and frolicking waterfalls. Something this beautiful, you’ll definitely want to capture forever!
